"While the original Lethal Weapon had some comedic elements, it certainly also had a good dose of drama thanks to Riggs. In contrast, Lethal Weapon 2 - the most successful installment in the franchise at the box office and with critics - relies more on the comedic dynamic between its two protagonists, Mel Gibson and Donald Glover (plus the added bonus of the great Joe Pesci), to achieve a much more fun and explosive movie than the original. It may not be able to boast a particularly complex plot, but it doesn't really need it either: its two main actors and its action sequences full of adrenaline achieve one of the best action films of the eighties."
