Former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader and U.S. war veteran Will Sawyer now assesses security for skyscrapers. He's on assignment in China when he finds the tallest, safest building in the world suddenly ablaze, and he's been framed for it. A wanted man on the run, Will must find those responsible, clear his name and somehow rescue his family, who are trapped inside the building, above the fire line.
"Inspired by action movie classics and tragedies "Die Hard" and "The Towering Inferno" (with both even featured in the marketing campaign), "Skyscraper" has Dwayne Johnson as a security expert who must overcome his own limitations and fears to save his family and of course, a skyscraper that is being attacked by terrorists. The screenplay, written by director Rawson Marshall Turber ("The Lies We Tell") may be too respectful to the films it is inspired by, always bringing a sense of deja vu. Still, it is possible to have fun with The Rock's shenanigans."
